How It Happened
Dave was sneaky and intentionally had Val called into work at "Club Morton's" that Saturday night. He collaborated with our General Manager and friend Barry Leonard to plan a private dinner party with our close friends and Val's mom that evening *a complete surprise to Val*. That evening, she went to work as planned, and went along business as usual. About an hour later, Dave showed up and surprised Val in a private boardroom... got down on one knee and proposed! Val was in shock as she went to the back of the restaurant and changed out of her uniform. She went back to meet Dave in the bar and they popped open a bottle of Vueve Clicquot champagne with Barry and toasted their engagement. During this time, the guests for the engagement party were being escorted through a side door into a private room so Val couldn't see them. About 15 minutes later, Barry walked us into the dining room to enjoy dinner, and led us into the Boardroom where the surprise dinner party was waiting. Such a special night for Val. At the end of dinner, Dave had planned for us to go out for drinks with our friends, and reserved a suite at the Solamar Hotel in Downtown San Diego. It was the most thoughtful and special night.
